Overthinking

This series began as notes in a sketchbook, where Andrew whined about maintaining a sketchbook. However, his frustration was not with the sketchbook, but a case of COVID-19 “Lockdown Fatigue.”

Andrew leaned into his frustration and explored the idea that handwriting is, in fact, drawing. He used his constant overthinking as the source for the writing. Then overlapped his handwriting to abstract his marks and elevate his whingeing. Andrew used dripping paint markers to mimic the anarchy of graffiti tags. And surrounded his Overthinking in white to help contain the madness.

Overthinking is a bit of dark comedy drawn out of a bleak crisis.
